Before being NASA Scientist & astronaut, Jasmin Moghbeli started her career in the Military. She worked as a commissioned officer at the United States Marine Corps in 2005. She served in the Marine Corps for three foreign deployments and 150 combat missions during her tenure.
While working at the Marine Corps, Moghbeli attended the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland and earned a Master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in California. After receiving her Masters’s & training, she became a helicopter test pilot with VMX-1 at Marine Corps Air Station, Arizona.

Moghbeli started her two-year training after being chosen as a member of NASA Astronaut Group 22 in June 2017.
In January 2020, she and 13 others graduated from the NASA Astronaut Training Program. This made her “eligible for spaceflight, which includes assignments to the International Space Station, Artemis missions to the Moon, and ultimately, missions to Mars.”
Furthermore, in 2022, she was designated as the mission commander for SpaceX Crew-7, which is set to fly in 2023 on a trip to the International Space Station. And it was her very first space flight.
