Thomas began his transition in May of 2019, starting hormone replacement therapy, and joined the Penn swimming team in the fall of 2019. She views the 2019-20 season, her junior year, as an extremely difficult time for her because she is still participating on the men’s team despite being in the process of transitioning to a woman.
