She competed on the world stage as a novice for three seasons, beginning in 2011–2012. She took first place in the Gardena Spring Trophy, International Challenge Cup, and Asian Trophy as a novice. When she was age-eligible to take part in the junior championship, earned silver medal in Junior Grand Prix and gold in the second attempt. She was invited to skate in the gala at the 2015 World Team Trophy as the junior worlds bronze medalist.

The Skater debuted in the senior championship and won gold medal in Italy. She finished fifth in the short program, third in the free skate, and third overall in this competition, earning three personal best scores. She also won the team event with Team Japan. Higuchi started the season on the Grand Prix circuit at the 2021 Skate Canada International, where she finished fifth in both programs and sixth overall and earned bronze medal at last.

She said afterward that her next goal was to “aim for 145 points and a perfect performance at Nationals.”
