Buddha Lo is the ‘Top Chef’ Season19 Winner

The season 19 Top Chef winner was announced on Thursday night’s finale of the Bravo cooking competition series. Lo surprised the judges with a four-course feast inspired by members of his family. While competing in Tucson, finalists Evelyn Garcia and Sarah Welch were challenged with creating “the best four-course progressive feast of your life,” as outlined by host Padma Lakshmi.

Lakshmi, judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, as well as guest judges Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard and three-star Michelin chef Eric Ripert, all agreed that his final meal was deserving of the Top Chef title. Lo intends to use the $250,000 financial award that comes with the title to plan a trip, but more importantly, he says, he intends to use it to help others.

“It’s probably going to be able to help me live a little more comfortably. I’ve never had this much money in my life, nor did I think that I would.”
