Aidan James Kaminska, a beloved son and brother, died unexpectedly on Memorial Day morning, May 30, 2022. He was 19 years old at the time. The wake for Kaminska will be held at Bryant Funeral Home on Old Town Road in East Setauket, New York, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. ET. The funeral will be held in Infant Jesus Chapel at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET. The funeral will be held at St. James RC Church, located on 25A in Setauket, New York.

He was born on August 13, 2002, in Stony Brook, New York, and had lived in Port Jefferson his entire life. Glenn Kaminska and Lydia Johnston Kaminska, his parents, will miss him greatly. Connor was his older brother. Lydia, Aidan’s mother, has uploaded several photos of her son on Facebook, including a touching montage of video recordings of him playing lacrosse.

Aidan graduated from the Port Jefferson School District in 2020. He went on to be a member of the Division I Mens’ Lacrosse team at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he majored in Communications. Aidan was recognized for his contagious smile, for being a great buddy, and for being a fantastic athlete. He began playing lacrosse at an early age as part of Port Jefferson’s newly founded lacrosse program. Aidan was a member of several travel lacrosse teams, most notably Legacy Lacrosse, where he was a member of the 2016 World Series of Youth Lacrosse (WSYL) title squad.

Kaminska was a captain on both the football and lacrosse teams for the boys in high school. In lacrosse, he was named All-County Midfielder his junior year (his senior season was canceled due to COVID), and in football, he was named All-County and All-State his senior year. He was nominated the Port Jefferson Dellecave Award Nominee for 2020.

The Lacrosse player was named to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the fall semester of 2020. He was selected Rookie-of-the-Week on April 25th as a redshirt freshman after a three-goal effort against Hofstra University, and he went on to be named to the CAA All-Rookie team for the 2022 season. He was chosen to the 2022 CAA All-Tournament team at the end of the season.
