His professional career: How did Kevin Kilbane amass millions of dollars?

Kevin made his professional debut in 1995 with his hometown club, Preston North End. His performances piqued the interest of other clubs, and he was moved to West Bromwich Albion for £1 million in 1997. Sunderland paid £2.5 million for the left-winger in December 1999, but he did not perform as well as he had previously. He joined Everton for little under a million pounds in 2003, exhibiting exceptional versatility in three positions: midfield, left-back (or even as a support striker), and left-wing.

On August 31, 2006, he signed a three-year contract with Wigan Athletic for an estimated sum of £2 million, and on April 15, 2007, he scored his first goal for the club with a powerful header in a 3–3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Kilbane was four games away from matching Wright’s record of 70 consecutive competitive international starts. However, due to a back procedure, he was unable to play in Ireland’s crucial UEFA Euro 2012 qualification match against Slovakia. He never played for Ireland again, and in December 2012, he declared his retirement as a footballer.
