Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

The newest Spiderman movie is a computer-animated film that features Marval’s Spiderman. Jake Johnson reprises his role as Peter Parker who became a father at the end of the first film after reuniting with Mary Jane Watson.

In Across the Spider-Verse, Parket gathers together a new team of Spider-People and goes on an adventure across the multiverse with this Spider-Force.

During their journeys Parker becomes a mentor to Miles Morales, played by newcomer Shameik Moore, a rebellious teen who has also been imbued with spider-like abilities. Miles is approached by Gwen Stacy who wants his help in saving the Spider-People from a new villain who has the potential to cause a catastrophic disaster.

Together, Miles and Gwen make their way through the Multiverse as they link up with the Spider-Force and try to discover how to overcome the danger and save themselves and their new colleagues.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

An all-star cast that includes Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonion Banderas and Shaunette Renee Wilson bring the iconic Indiana Jones back to life in the fifth Indian Jones movie – and the first one to be made in 15 years.

The original Indian Jones movies were set in the 1930s and this film sticks with that timeline as, in 1969, soon-to-be-retired Indiana Jones (Ford) discovers that the US government is recruiting former Nazis to help beat the Soviet Union in the Race-for-Space.

While Indy tries to stay relevant in the new world he finds himself wrestling with old enemies and an evil that never seems to go out of style. An old rival appears, forcing Indy to get back into the game to make sure that an ancient and powerful artifact doesn’t fall into the hands of those who would use it to promote  immoral acts.

Dune: Part Two

The Dune films are based on the 1965 science-fiction book Dune by Frank Herbert. Fans have been waiting for Part Two for two years so that they can see how the second part of the book plays out on the big screen. Part 2 brings back many of the characters of Part 1 including Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh), Feyd Reuth (Austin Butler), Paul Atrides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).

The plot of Dune involves a boy who becomes the messiah of nomads on a desert planet. Giant worms that live on the planet protect “Spice”, a commodity that changes people into travelers, madmen and mystics. The question boils down to deciding what price must be paid for the boy to become the new ruler of the planet? And will he be prepared to pay that price?

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Tom Cruise prepares to spice up 2023 with a new Mission Impossible. Cruise is joined by Angela Basset, Hayley

Atwell, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby and Rebecca Ferguson for the 7th in the Mission Impossible series. Cruise has been in all 7 films along with Ving Rhames. No storyline has yet been released about Mission Impossible   — Dead Reckoning Part One but follow-up Part 2 is already scheduled for release next year.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was originally scheduled to be filmed in 2020 and released in 2021 but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, filming was delayed and is only now being completed for release later this year.

Wonka

Hugh Grant fans will be glad to see the British actor back on the big screen when the new musical-fantasy Wonka is released this year.

Grant, as Oompa Loompa, will join Timothée Hal Chalamet, Rowan Atkinson (of Mr. Bean fame), Matt Lucas, Olivia Colman and Matthew Baynton in a sequel to the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (released in 2005 – which itself was a sequal to Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, released in 1971) which was based on a 1964 novel by Roal Dahl.  The plot of the movie involves Charlie’s life before he entered the Chocolate Factory.

Neil Hannon, lead singer of The Divine Comedy band wrote the songs for the film.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The fun-loving mutant ninja turtles of the ’80s return in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a computer-animated superhero film that reboots the original film franchise.

In the film, the 4 Turtle brothers who have spent their lives sheltered from the “real world” of New York by living in the city’s sewers,  take on a notorious crime syndicate and an army of mutants while trying to be accepted as normal teenagers. The brothers rely on their knowledge of the ninjitsu martial arts for their struggle against the criminals but must learn the ways of human teens to break into human teen society.
