On February 23, 2020, Hendershot was arrested on multiple charges following an incident with his ex-girlfriend. According to a news release from the Bloomington Police Department, Hendershot went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment without permission and took her cellphone. When she tried to retrieve the phone, Hendershot grabbed her by the neck and shoved her against the wall. He then threw the phone into the kitchen and left the apartment.
Hendershot was charged with felony residential entry, misdemeanor domestic battery, misdemeanor criminal mischief, and misdemeanor criminal conversion. He was suspended indefinitely from the Indiana football team and later pleaded guilty to the domestic battery charge.
