Salman Rushdie was reportedly stabbed in the neck on Friday, August 12, 2022, around 11 a.m. He took the stage at the Chautauqua Institution to deliver a lecture. The writer was flown to the hospital immediately after the incident, according to the police report, and his agency said he was undergoing surgery at the time. The attack’s motivation is still unknown at this moment.

Despite being stopped by police, the attacker allegedly tried to stab Rushdie again, according to a witness in the front row of the event. She said that it took around five men to get him to stop stabbing. He was purely and simply outraged. like simply swift and extremely strong.

Another witness stated that there was a significant security breakdown. It was alarming that someone might approach that closely without any protection.
