She went to Polytechnic School in Pasadena, California, which is a private day school. Leondra went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Harvard University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and wrote for The Harvard Crimson. Kruger served as an assistant to the United States Solicitor General and acting principal deputy solicitor general from 2007 to 2013. She appeared before the United States Supreme Court in 12 cases.
