Previously, Meyer wed Francine Winskill in 1976; they had two sons and later divorced. Additionally, he served as the chairman of the Pagefield Advisory Board and was an honorary fellow at Cambridge University’s Peterhouse.
He was a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers. On April 3, 2012, the Company designated him Court Assistant honor as causa. Meyer served as a Senior Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute starting in 2013. At the University of North Carolina, Meyer was appointed Morehead-Cain Alumni Distinguished Visiting Professor in 2010.

Meyer’s parents, age, education, and nationality
Meyer was born on February 22, 1944, in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, to Reginald Henry Rome Meyer and his wife Eve. 13 days before his son was born, Reginald, a flying lieutenant in Coastal Command of the RAF, was shot down over the Greek island of Icaria. In 2011, Meyer visited the island and spoke with witnesses to his father’s shooting down and burial.
Meyer received his education at Peterhouse at the University of Cambridge, where he received a degree in history, the Lycée Henri-IV in Paris, and an independent residential school for boys called Lancing College (now coed) (he was an honorary fellow of Peterhouse from 2002 on). He attended the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna after graduation.

What was the Cause of Death, and how did it happen?
Sir Christopher, who was Britain’s ambassador to the United States from 1997-2003, was attacked by two teenagers at Victoria underground station in London. He was left with a bleeding and swollen eye socket, a burst lip, and a suspected broken nose from the attack at the age of 74.
Meyer died from a stroke on 27 July 2022, aged 78, at his holiday home in Megève, in the French Alps.

The current ambassador, Dame Karen Pierce, paid tribute, saying: “He was a great diplomat and a great character.”
