Lapid’s first agenda item on his first day in office Friday was a meeting with Ronen Bar, the head of the Shin Bet security service, at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv. According to a statement from Lapid’s office, the meeting included a “wide defense and intelligence briefing on what is happening on the various fronts.”
Following that, the new prime minister will convene a conference to discuss “the hostages and MIAs,” referring to the two Israeli men and the remains of two IDF soldiers being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
