Maria Sara Bartiromo was born on September 11, 1967 in New York City, United States. She is the daughter of Italian-American parents, Vincent and Josephine Bartiromo. Her father was the owner of the Rex Manor restaurant in Brooklyn. Her mother served as the hostess seating guests. Maria mother also worked as a clerk at an off-track betting parlor. Her mother’s family was from Agrigento, Sicily, and arrived in the U.S. in 1898.. Her grandfather, Carmine Bartiromo, arrived in New York from Nocera in Campania in 1933 and cerved in the U.S.armed forces. 

She is the youngest of three siblings. Maria Fontbonne Hall Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school. She later enrolled at New York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in journalism and economics.
